We are seeking seasonal employees for our 2022 season to help run various aspects of our business

 

Buffalo Gap Retreat is a three-season, rustic retreat located in the West Virginia mountains two hours west of Washington, DC.  We offer the following to our guests:  24 rustic cabins, a 1.5 acre lake, 1/2 acre dog park, sand beach, wood-fired sauna, camping, hiking trails, a beautiful outdoor event pavilion and bar/restaurant with indoor/outdoor seating.

Kitchen Staff

 

The employee will be involved in all aspects of food preparation in our commercial kitchen.  The employee will have the opportunity to collaborate on creating menus and catering, taking into consideration factors such as costs and special event needs.  This person will also assist with planning and purchasing food items.  The Lakeside Cafe and Bar is open Friday through Sunday (Monday of holiday weekends).  

 

This position is available starting in April 2022.  This position can be either part time or full time (20-40 hours per week).  

Salary is $12-17/hour, based on experience.   

Rustic accommodations may be available for interested candidates applying from outside the Capon Bridge, WV commuting area.

Massage Therapist

 

WV Licensed Massage Therapist to work at the Spa as an independent contractor.  Compensation commensurate with experience.

Camp Staff (Housekeeping, Kitchen Staff, Groundskeeping, Maintenance...)

 

We are looking for assistance with: housekeeping, meal preparation & service, groundskeeping, maintenance, laundry, office & store assistance, guest relations, and event preparation. Scope of duties and responsibilities are flexible, and will depend upon the candidate’s skills, capability, and interest. Prior experience is a plus, but not a requirement. Ideal candidates are looking to learn and gain experience within the hospitality industry. Planned summer events for which we will need help include: weddings, yoga retreats, dance weekends, etc.

Weekly hours are variable, depending on retreat occupancy and event scheduling. Based on our past seasons, available hours per week start around 20, and increase to 40 as the season gets underway. A 5 day work week is typical.

General Info:

Our ideal candidate is someone who:

1.) is dependable and hardworking;

2.) is in good physical condition with the ability to lift 30 lbs;

3.) has a cheerful, outgoing, and customer service oriented personality;

4.) has reliable transportation;

5.) is local, or able and willing to live on-site;

6.) has relevant skills/prior experience, but above all a willingness to learn and contribute to a successful season;

7.) is able to spend all, or most of, the season with us. Our season typically runs from April through November

 

What we offer:

3.) base pay rate: $11-17/hour; negotiable based on candidate’s skills, experience, references, availability, and lodging requirements

4.) end of season bonus, plus letter of recommendation for employees in good standing, based on accumulated months of service

5.) potential for seasonal, on-site housing, or long-term parking for candidates with mobile lodging (RV's, van conversions...). On-site housing consists of a rustic cabin with electricity only, similar to what one would find at a summer camp. Bathrooms and showers are shared with camping guests. Internet is available elsewhere in the camp and phone service is spotty.

6.) Recreational access to property and amenities for self and family, as scheduling and retreat occupancy allows
