Good to Know: Camping at Buffalo Gap

  • Google maps has it nailed as do most navigation systems.

• Two Campground areas / Costs -- (1.) Main Creekside Campground with separate entrance area for parking and (2.) Lakeview Campground located between the dining hall and lakefront sauna.

  • Lakeview Campsites #1 - #14:  $35  for 2 people only.  No extra persons.  Rent extra campsites.

  • Creekside Campsites #15 - #30:  $40 per night for up to 4 people... $10 per extra person per night. 

• Main Creekside Campground parking  Campsites #15- #30 Creekside is located about 1/4 mile past the main red gate entrance to Buffalo Gap Retreat and is labeled with camping placards.   

  • parking behind the roped areas only -- no parking at campsides due to soft ground.​

• Lakeview Campground parking:  Campsites #1 - #14 Lakeview near the back of the dining hall as well as in the overflow parking area to the right shortly after entering the camp.  Sites very nearby.​ 

• All campsites are now numbered and are designated:   All designated campsites and each must be reserved, no more first come first serve.

• Check-in / check-out time:   

  • Check-out is 11am daily,

  • Check-in -- 2pm or after.

  • Once you pack up and depart your site, you are welcome to enjoy the lake, dining hall, cafe, hiking trails and more for the rest of the day.

• Primitive camping:  Park in designated areas only!  Stone fire-pits, most sites with picnic tables, but access to all camp amenities -- see details of amenities below.  Charcoal grills located at mini-pavilion by dining hall and beach house area.

• Additional people are $10/night per person for Creekside Camping area... Lakeview is capped at 2 people per site... have more people? rent a second site.   Crowd controlled camping.

• Firewood - ​is available for $7 per bundle... located at the Office Cottage with an honor system secure black mailbox for payment -- $7/bundle.   Venmo active for digital pay.  Available 24/7.

• Internet - we have internet in our lakeview dining hall / Cafe area for all guests to use.  Wi-fi network and password on posted on the wall to the left when you walk in.  Frontier DSL internet.

• Pets welcome - all dogs must be on a leash at all times (except while in the dog park) and barking during quiet hours must be controlled.

• Picnic tables Most sites have them... all have stone fire pits.  Feel free to move a single picnic table to your site from one nearby if one is currently lacking.

• Free hospitality service for all campers located in  Beach House at the Lake and includes microwave, full sized refrigerator/freezer, coffee pot, keurig machine, hot water heater for tea, toaster and toaster oven, supplied water and outlets to charge your phone.  Bring your own mug and coffee supplies in general.   

• Brick and mortar bathrooms by the nearby dining hall as well as Gymnasium and porta-potty on-site at campground parking.

• Hot showers  are located

  • behind the dining hall area bathrooms (2 private) and 

  • cold rinse off showers at the sauna dock and beach / lake area.

• We have a 24/7  office manager / caretaker on-site at the red office cottage close to the upper pond if you need assistance or help.   Additionally, you can contact partners

Camping includes full access to all

Buffalo Gap Retreat amenities including:

• Lake use includes:

  • swimming, use of our kayaks, canoes, paddle boat and floatation devices free (best to bring your own blow up floatation devices if you like).

• Wood fired sauna on the lake (at additional cost), with floating dock.   $10 per 2 hour session -- see office manager to schedule a private time for your group.

• Fishing (catch and release)

• Hiking trails (upper and lower berry trails accessible near the Spa)

• Beach house includes large covered porch with lots of seating, pool table, darts, comfortable seating, a flat screen TV and DVD player and lots of movies (about 150)... microwave, toaster, coffee station, charcoal grill for all to use, picnic tables, and a bon-fire pit outside.  Outlets to charge your phone too.

• Covered Pavilion -- at 3,800 square feet , includes ladders games, corn hole and nearby  horse shoes and always dry during rainy weather.

• Dining Hall gathering place -- at 3200 square feet, ping pong and foosball, and lots of seating and tables for all to enjoy gathering or communal eating with picture windows overlooking the lake and beach and always dry during rainy weather.
